    About the TFE731-3

The Honeywell TFE731 — originally the Garrett TFE731, later AlliedSignal, and often written informally as TFE 731 — is the engine that defined the light and midsize business jet. More than 10,000 units have been delivered since the program began, and the type still powers a large part of the world's in-service corporate fleet.

The TFE731-3 series is a geared, medium-bypass turbofan rated at roughly 3,700 lbf of takeoff thrust. Its front fan is driven through a planetary gearbox, which lets the fan and the low-pressure spool each run at their own optimal speed — the reason the -3 delivers strong hot-and-high performance and low fuel burn for its era.

    Typical Applications

    • Learjet 35 / 35A / 36 / 36A
    • Dassault Falcon 50
    • Hawker 700 / HS.125-700
    • Cessna Citation III
    • IAI Westwind / Astra

Serviceable TFE731-3 assets are getting harder to find as operators consolidate around the -3 core. If you are supporting one of these airframes and need a complete engine rather than a project, talk to us before the market tightens further.
