About the PT6A-114A
The Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-114A is a free-turbine turboprop rated at 675 shaft horsepower, and it is what hangs on the nose of the Cessna 208 and 208B Grand Caravan. It is the uprated sibling of the 600 shp PT6A-114 fitted to earlier Caravans — the same architecture, 75 more horsepower, and the reason later Caravans carry more load out of shorter and hotter strips.
It belongs to the PT6A family, which has accumulated hundreds of millions of flight hours and is the most widely supported turboprop line in general aviation. For an owner that means parts, shops and overhaul capacity are genuinely available worldwide — which is also what makes a core worth buying rather than scrapping.
